Dr. Shane D. Lee
An Alabama native and Auburn-trained veterinarian with a practical, down-to-earth approach to caring for pets, large animals, and the families who depend on them.
Alabama Roots & Auburn Training
Dr. Shane D. Lee is a native of Jones Chapel, Alabama. He graduated from West Point High School in 1999 before continuing his education at Wallace State Community College and Auburn University.
He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Animal and Dairy Science from Auburn University, then went on to receive his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007.
After veterinary school, Dr. Shane spent two years practicing small animal medicine in Georgia before joining Lee’s Veterinary Hospital in 2009.
Practical Care for Pets & Large Animals
Dr. Shane has a special interest in orthopedics, theriogenology, and large animal medicine. His background gives him a broad perspective on veterinary care — from the needs of family pets to the practical realities of farm animals and livestock.
His approach is steady, thoughtful, and grounded in helping owners understand what is happening, what options are available, and what next step makes sense for their animal.
Dr. Shane is also a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association.
Family, Farm Life & the Outdoors
Outside the hospital, Dr. Shane enjoys spending time with his family, being outdoors, and working on his farm.
His family includes his daughters, Charlie and Eliana, and his son, Harper. Their animal family is full of personality too — including dogs Herschel and Ruger, Steve the cat, cattle, calves, emus, donkeys, a sheep, and a mule named Dozer.
For Dr. Shane, animals are not just part of the workday. They are part of everyday life.

His farm has plenty of characters — including emus Kevin, Marv, and Myrtle, plus a cat named Steve. 🦤
