If you observe any of the following symptoms, please call our emergency line immediately. Our team will help you determine the best course of action.
Breathing Issues
Continuous panting, choking, or extreme difficulty taking a breath.
Trauma or Injury
Hit by a car, animal bites, falls, or uncontrolled bleeding.
Toxin Ingestion
Ate chocolate, rat poison, grapes, household chemicals, or unknown meds.
Collapse
Sudden weakness, inability to stand, seizures, or unconsciousness.
Other serious signs include:
Unproductive retching/vomiting (especially in large dogs), difficulty urinating, pale gums, signs of extreme pain, or sudden severe swelling.
What to do next
Stay Calm
Your pet can sense your panic. Speak softly and move carefully to avoid adding to their stress or causing them to bite out of fear.
Call Ahead
Call (256) 737-2000 before traveling. This allows our team to assess the emergency and provide instructions before you arrive.
Transport Safely
Use a carrier for cats or small dogs. For larger injured pets, use a thick blanket as a makeshift stretcher to support their spine.

If your pet has an urgent concern, call the emergency line first. Our team can help you decide what to do next and prepare for your arrival when immediate care is needed.
